The Winner of the Bill Janklow Memorial Stupidity Award is...

Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer (R) of South Carolina. Stopped for speeding twice in the last four months, once for doing 101 in a 70 mph zone, but gets no tickets. I love this dichotomy:

"Bauer contacted a Highway Patrol dispatcher to try and alert the troopers following him who he was, according to a transcript provided by DPS."

And then:

"I have always acknowledged my error, asked for no special treatment, and, if anything, to be held to a higher standard of accountability in order to set the proper example," Bauer said at the time. "

And politicians wonder why people think they're lying sacks of crap. I think I'll go for a drive at 101 mph tonight - think I'll get the same treatment?
