A noble act

Let me get this out of the way. I don't like Sheriff Bob Fletcher of Ramsey County, mainly because of his opposition to carry permits for the average Minnesotan. He has been vocal and public in his dissent, and did everything in his power to prevent the shall-issue law from being passed. I've also heard that he dragged his feet once the law was in place, and had to be prodded to adhere to the law.

Having said that, I must admit that I admire the man for handling this situation. Arresting your own son for drug possession had to have been one of the hardest things this man has ever done, but he did it by the numbers. No special treatment, nothing swept under the rug, everything apparently done according to protocol. That's the way public officials are supposed to behave, and, sadly, it's all too rare these days, as seen in a number of stories I've commented about here.

Good show, sir. My respect for you just increased.
