What are you afraid of, if you have nothing to hide?

Isn't that what the politicians tell us, as they install camera after camera to follow peoples' every move, especially in downtown areas? I suppose that, just like everything else, the police don't want the rules governing peasants to apply to them. These men were arrested for apparently doing nothing more than videotaping police busting drunks on a public street. I love the all-encompassing reason that one of the undercover officers gave for asking the men to stop - for "security reasons". Like the world has to stop whenever those two words are spoken by someone in authority, and all questioning must cease. Earth to undercover cop, when you arrest someone in public in front of a bar, you are no longer "undercover".

Remember Rodney King? I didn't hear anyone complaining about videotaping the police then. One of the great freedoms of this country is the right to record incidents that happen in public, in order to hold the "authorities" accountable. Without that, one has a police state.
