Elvira, Mistress of the DarkAnother illegal immigrant, one who has already been deported once, is now holed up in a church in Chicago, claiming "sanctuary". She is there with her 7 year old son, who was born in the U.S. Apparently these children are known as "anchors", with the idea that the U.S. will be less likely to bounce your ass out of the country if you have a legal dependent, so having kids is one of the illegals' first priorities once they get here.
From the article:
"My son is a U.S. citizen," she told reporters. "He doesn't want me to go anywhere, so I'm going to stay with him."
Proves my point exactly.
Of course, His Imperial Majesty Mayor Richard Daley is said to be supportive of this woman, according to the article. Hey Mayor No Clothes, this lady was arrested at O'Hare Airport, where she had a job! Remember all of this talk about securing the airports for our "safety"? How is letting illegal immigrants work in a secure area make us "safer"? The 9/11 hijackers were illegal, remember?

"I don't think the immigration debate should be focused on a woman who ... disregards an order," said Carlina Tapia-Ruano, a Chicago lawyer and president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Tapia-Ruano said she worries that Arellano's story will be used by extremists on both sides of the issue and cited as an example "of how illegals come here to be in flagrant disregard of our laws, and I don't think that's true."
You just knew her defenders would have hyphenated names.
If this isn't flagrant disregard, then what is?

A small point, but I think the 9-11 hijackers were Legally here in the US. Ya don't have to be illegal to go do harm against this country.
So what do you do with legal kids and illegal parents? We have a lot of that here in TX.
I'm with you on most of your points, though. People should follow the laws we have.

Most of the 9/11 hijackers had arrived here on student visas, which they then overstayed, so they were here illegally. They also had forged driver's licenses to use as ID. Many illegals get their "papers" from the same places. I take this very seriously, since my father works in the Pentagon, and I didn't know for 6 hours whether he was alive or not on that day.
As to the legal kids born to illegal parents, I agree that it is a tough issue. Unfortunately, a lot of illegals have children just for that point - to make it harder for them to be deported, such as in this lady's case. She had already been sent home once, so she knew it was a possibility, yet she had a child when she got here the second time. I think the only solution is to no longer give automatic citizenship to anyone born here to illegal parents. Apparently we are the one of, if not the only country to do so. If it's being taken advantage of, then that hole should be closed.
