No more "fishing" in people's pants

Police may not shine a light down a suspect's pants to inspect their genitals unless they have and can articulate a suspicion, the North Carolina Court of Appeals has ruled. The suspect was pulled over for speeding, and consented to a search, but the court ruled that pulling his pants away from his body and shining a light "down there" was unreasonable.

Again, I am no friend of drug users or dealers, but there has to be limits on what a "casual" search may entail, otherwise people will start to get anally probed for running stop signs. The Fourth Amendment still applies, at least in North Carolina.
