Minneapolis City Council comes to their senses

Well, it looks like the sweetheart settlement that Fire Chief Bonnie "Caligula" Bleskachek was to receive lasted all of one day. Apparently the City Council has been deluged with calls and emails, with the vast majority wanting this moron gone and soon. Consequently, the executive committee voted unanimously to recommend that she be fired.

Does anyone really believe, though, that the utopians on the Council would be backpedaling at warp speed if this story hadn't suddenly become front-page news, like I called for it to be in March?

From the article:

"Burg, the fire chief's attorney, expressed surprise at the rejection and said that he did not know what it meant."

It means "Nice try, but game over. Your client is toast. She better head down to Kinko's and polish up the ol' resume." Clear enough?

"According to sources familiar with Tuesday's discussion, committee members were concerned that Bleskachek would still be a supervisor under the settlement. Some felt she should not be supervising anyone."

I guess this earns the "Blindingly Obvious" quote of the day award.

Kudos to the citizens of Minneapolis for not allowing one more dime of their money to be spent on this disaster. One can only hope that they'll remember this quality "leadership" at the next election.
