Armed and (In)Famous

I don’t think this new “reality” show is a good idea, for several reasons:

1. It cheapens law enforcement, reducing it to a sideshow that anyone can do, even ex-junkies and faded celebrities who have never used a firearm in their lives. I’m sure these people are very nice, but are they actually going to let them have arrest powers?

2. It sure is funny how Hollywood execs, famously liberal and anti-gun (for your average peasant, anyway) continually feature firearms in their shows, both fictional and real. “We don’t want the peasants to be able to protect themselves, but where’s MY permit, and oh by the way, let’s give them to total neophytes and let them run around! It’ll be hilarious!”

3. How “real” is this show, anyway, if they have to film the swearing in ceremony 3 times? Just show the footage, warts and all, without dressing it up.

4. Look at this picture of LaToya Jackson.

Normally, I’m all for more people learning how to use firearms, but somehow this image is just wrong. Maybe brother Michael better watch out that she doesn’t get put on the pedophile squad.

If I’m way off base here, let me know.

Not only does it cheapen the law enforcement profession in general, it also insults the men and women who serve their communities as reserve police officers (which I believe these knuckle-heads technically are).

I didn't even think about how actual reserve officers, of which I know several, though of this show and how it reflects on them. I'll have to ask. Good point.

photo looks like one of her fellow trainees is about to shoot her in the back of the head. That could boost ratings...

I'm sure that's a funny camera angle, right? Right?
