The Jack-Booted Thug(s) of the Week

are the Glendora, California Police Department, who arrested two 18-year-olds who were trying to expose the hypocrisy of a member of the Glendora City Council.

You see, Glendora has a law that prohibits the placing of campaign signs on public property, which was passed in 2004.

On February 19, the two teens, Keleigh Marshall and Christina Giammalva, were observed placing stickers on campaign signs belonging to Glendora Council member Gary Clifford, who was running for re-election. The stickers, which were placed on signs posted illegally on public property, stated:

"This Sign Violates Glendora City Ordinance."

Councilman Clifford confronted the teens, and then called the police. FOUR squad cars (for two teen girls?) then showed up and arrested the pair. When the police issued a statement about the arrest, they named the teens, but conveniently left out Clifford's name.

Oh, the hypocrisy? Councilman Clifford voted FOR the anti-public property ordinance in 2004.

So basically, the good councilman abused the authority of his office and released the hounds on two citizens who were trying to expose him (in a funny and effective manner, I might add) as the fraud that he is. The police then backed his hissy fit with a overwhelming show of intimidation, and locked the teens up for using the First Amendment. The signs were on public property, and weren't supposed to be there in the first place: in my view, they had every right to "sticker" them.

The L.A. County Attorney, according to the story, is undecided about whether to charge the teens. Charge them with what? Being heroes? How about charging the councilman with violating the law that he himself voted to impose on the peasants? Remember, once these tinpot dictators get elected, they're automatically better than you, and the laws no longer apply to them.

Free the Glendora Two!!

Yes but what you have failed to mention is that the two girls were being paid by the one girls parents to deface the signs. You see, Marshall's father was recalled from the city council about 4 years ago and replaced by Mr. Clifford. So really what you have here is somebody who has an axe to grind with Mr. Clifford. What you also weren't told is that Marshall's father was helping out with the camapign of another candidate who was also recalled with him 4 years ago. This whole thing is nothing more than an attempt by John Harrold, Paul Marshall, Kristin Parisi and other local whinners within the community to attempt to defame Mr. Clifford. Fortunately, the good citizens of Glendora were able to see right through Mr. Harrold and this whole little incident and they re-elected Mr. Clifford as well as the other two incumbents. John Harrold has been told 3 times now by the voters that his involvement in local politics is unwanted. Unfortunately he can't get that through his thick skull. Perhaps he should consider moving to Claremont, CA. He would fit right in over there with all of the other whiners like himself.
