The following Republican senators voted this afternoon for cloture on the illegal alien amnesty bill so that debate on it could continue, with a final vote of passage expected on Thursday:
Republicans Yes
Bennett, Utah; Bond, Mo.; Brownback, Kan.; Burr, N.C.; Coleman, Minn.; Collins, Maine; Craig, Idaho; Domenici, N.M.; Ensign, Nev.; Graham, S.C.; Gregg, N.H.; Hagel, Neb.; Kyl, Ariz.; Lott, Miss.; Lugar, Ind.; Martinez, Fla.; McCain, Ariz.; McConnell, Ky.; Murkowski, Alaska; Snowe, Maine; Specter, Pa.; Stevens, Alaska; Voinovich, Ohio; Warner, Va.
As I understand it, it will now only take 51 votes to pass the bill, instead of 60. These senators could have stepped up to the plate, and reinforced the rule of law in this country by voting to not reconsider this travesty of a bill. Regretfully, they did not, and now the fight will have to continue on in the House of Representatives.
Please remember the actions of these lawmakers the next time you vote. My Senator, Norm Coleman, will no longer get so much as a penny from me.
