...is Philadelphia, PA police officer Greg Wilkinson. Having nothing better to do one day last March, Officer Wilkinson took it upon himself to arrest a 20-year-old man on charges of disorderly conduct. What was so disorderly? Singing loudly in a public park.
The man, Anthony Riley, was acquitted of all charges by a judge with some common sense.
Officer Wilkinson earns his Jack-Booted status based on the following paragraph from the article:
"Witnesses testified that Riley had asked Wilkinson what the law was restricting him from singing in the park. Wilkinson responded that he was the law (emphasis mine). When Riley asked Wilkinson whether he was still in America, Wilkinson replied "this is Afghanistan," according to witnesses."
"I am the law".
No, you're not. You're just an egotistical public servant who likes to abuse his police powers, and who has apparently watched too many bad Sylvester Stallone movies.
"The city is now reviewing what sorts of music should be allowed in its public parks."
How about whatever the heck the city's citizens want to sing or play, since it's their park? That concept should be simple enough for the city's burghers to understand, but maybe I presume too much.
