The good aldermen of St. George, Missouri, have voted 5-0 to fire Sergeant James Kuehnlein, the abusive police officer about whom we've been writing so much lately.
It's great to see the elected officials of that town doing the right thing, although it appears that no one actually saw them do it:
"voted 5-0 in a closed meeting"
I wonder why they didn't let the peasants in to watch them debate their proposed course of action? Embarrassment? A last ditch effort to somehow save the officer's job? I guess we'll never know. Personally, I think they should have invited cameras in, and shown the entire world what should happen to anyone who abuses their authority in such a blatant manner.
Now all that remains is for St. George Chief Uhrig or the Missouri State Police to address the crimes of assault, unlawful detention, and threatening of perjury that Sgt. (sorry, Mister) Kuehnlein perpetrated on Mr. Darrow.
We'll keep watching developments.

Even under most sunshine laws, meetings involving personnel decisions are almost always closed.
Of course, the cop's discipline should have (and still should) take place in open court.

Oh, that makes perfect sense. I'd forgotten about privacy policies regarding personnel. My mistake.
Hopefully the douche bag doesn't get another job in the law enforcement field.
