Scenes from the road

Observed today on Interstate 35 near Des Moines, Iowa:

An Iowa police officer (I think it was a state trooper, but I'm not positive) kneeling down on the side of the highway helping a stranded motorist change a tire.

Way above and beyond his job description, and no doubt much appreciated by the strandee.

We spend a lot of time on this blog bashing the small but significant number of unprofessional, bullying and sometimes downright criminal cops and "special people" that give all officers a bad name, and who deserve to be called out. We are ever mindful, however, that these bad apples are but a small fraction of the overwhelming number of good, honest police officers out there. This officer was obviously one of the many professional cops that truly wish to protect and serve the public, instead of lording their authority over them.

Good show, sir.

Many years ago, I worked security in St. Louis Mo, for almost 10 years. Many many times Fellow Security Officers Police Officers and myself chipped in to help the local food pantries deliver food and meal to shut ins. We weren't asked we just did it. We didn't expect anything in return, but many of us made friends and became an extended member of many families.
