911 is a joke

A trainee (that's the story, anyway) Nashville, Tennessee 911 operator has been fired after details of his phone manners recently came to light. After taking a call from a woman who claimed her ex-boyfriend had just theatened her at knifepoint, the operator, off the line with the woman but still being recorded, was heard on the tape stating "I really don't give a shit what happens to you".

To me, the revelation of Mr. Frank Roth's lack of interest in the welfare of his callers pales in comparison to how fast help actually arrived:

"It took police three hours to reach the scene after the first call."

Nobody cares about your personal feelings, Mr. Roth, as long as you dispatch the help when asked.

Protect yourselves. No one else is going to do it for you.

Particularly in Nashville.
