You sure have a funny way of showing your "progressive values"

Ben & Jerry's Product Mission Statement, from their website:

"To make, distribute & sell the finest quality all natural ice cream & euphoric concoctions with a continued commitment to incorporating wholesome, natural ingredients and promoting business practices that respect the Earth and the Environment." (All emphases mine)
They also do a lot of smug preaching on their site how they have such lofty "progressive values" as "By definition, the manufacturing of products creates waste. We strive to minimize our negative impact on the environment"; "We believe government resources are more productively used in meeting human needs than in building and maintaining weapons systems"; and of course, who can forget "Capitalism and the wealth it produces do not create opportunity for everyone equally". All of this has nothing whatsoever to do with producing ice cream, but I'll bet it sure makes Ben and Jerry feel much better about themselves to educate the unwashed about how to live their lives.

Seen today outside the Ben & Jerry's store at 92nd and Shea in Scottsdale, Arizona:

A hippie company that uses its website to indoctrinate their frustratingly ignorant customers on how to think about non-ice cream-related subjects such as stopping global warming, the evils of weapon production and how rotten of an idea capitalism is, uses a Hummer H1 as a catering truck.

Messrs. Ben and Jerry seem to be graduates of the Algore School for Smug Hypocrisy.

To paraphrase Chad the Elder, "Dude, you use a Hummer to deliver your products".

I would have assumed that Ben & Jerry's used a VW microbus as their delivery vehicle. How wrong I was! Anyway, I love the ice cream, hate the smug hippie routine.

Unilever owns Ben and Jerry's, and most of the stores are independently-owned franchises.
