First off: I fervently hope that John McCain wins this election, for the good of the country. He is not my idea of a perfect candidate, to say the least, but he is by far the lesser of two evils in this particular race.
That being said, I must take McCain's campaign to task for arrogantly whining that they should be exempt from the onerous "fair use" provisions of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act that he and other legislators imposed on the rest of the peasantry:
"McCain has now discovered the rights holder friendly nature of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which forces remixers to fight an uphill battle to prove that their work is a 'fair use.'
However, instead of calling for an overhaul of the much hated law, McCain is calling for VIP treatment for the remixes made by political campaigns."
It must really suck when politicians realize that the laws that they so freely pass without a second thought are cramping their own election hopes. One wonders why they don't just think ahead and carve out "VIP treatment" provisions for themselves in every one of the laws that they chuck out of Capitol Hill at such a rapid pace. That way they would never have to be inconvenienced in such a rotten fashion. After all, their message is far more important than what any common peasant has to say in an online video.
