Only rocks remain unbanned

I predicted awhile back that England would sooner or later ban sticks and rocks, as that would be the logical next step in the systematic disarmament of the entire law-abiding populace of that country.

Sadly, that day seems to have come upon us, at least practically if not officially.

A 78-year-old man in Kent, England who relies on a cane to get around had it confiscated by the dunderheaded local police because they claimed it was an "offensive weapon".

A real shady character. (pic from the article)

Clarkson Webb was attempting to attend a trade seminar at a location where a demonstration protesting climate change was also taking place, and the overzealous officers apparently decided that he was somehow a danger.

To add insult to injury, when Mr. Webb showed up at the police station (using his spare cane) to retrieve his property, the police couldn't find it, despite issuing a receipt for the property.

At least the force has apologized to Mr. Webb personally, and are going to buy him a new cane. This does not, however, get them off the hook for their heavy-handed treatment of an obviously elderly, disabled gentleman for no good reason, just because he needs help to get around.

Coming soon - Nerf canes, for those who wish to avoid carrying "offensive weapons".

I've read the Nazi era gun control laws (www.jpfo.org has the book "Gun Control; gateway to Genocide" if you don't already), and they actually banned anything that could be a club. I guess it's a miracle, between that and American bombers, that there was such a thing as a tree in Germany in 1945. Those things are dangerous, ya know. :^)
