Dan Cooper, founder and head of Cooper Firearms, a high-end boutique rifle company, has been forced to resign as president of his own company after he was quoted in USA Today as supporting Barack Obama for President. Why Cooper would back a politician who would happily put himself and every other gun manufacturer permanently out of the civilian firearm business is a mystery, but the reaction to Cooper's endorsement certainly wasn't. It's kind of like the head of Coca-Cola supporting a candidate who advocated outlawing high fructose corn syrup - it tends to be bad for business.
Happy retirement, Dan.
