Nice try

CBS White House Correspondent Mark Knoller offers up a pretty weak excuse for why he and his colleagues stood up for President Obama's entrance into the Briefing Room the other day, but refused to show the same courtesy to President Bush in his earlier appearances there - that some in the press corps are "new", and that they naively didn't realize that no one stands at these things, in order to not block the camera shots of those in the rear of the room.

Judging by the comments to his post, his explanation isn't going over very well.

We didn't believe it, either. Viewing the video, one can easily see that it's the reporters in the front row who stand up to greet the Messiah. In what universe are "new" reporters allowed to occupy those prime seats?
