Literally giving the finger to socialized medicine

John Docherty of Ayr, Scotland slipped and fell on some ice the other day. Unfortunately for him, while trying to stop his fall his wedding ring caught on a fence, ripping off the finger.

Docherty immediately presented at his local NHS hospital, which promptly passed the buck by referring the poor grandfather to a facility in Glasgow, three hours away by taxi.

As a result of the extended (and unnecessary) travel time, Docherty's finger was unable to be saved.

"Last night NHS Ayrshire and Arran director Liz Moore said they would probe the taxi incident, adding: 'We agree that it is not acceptable.'"

One would certainly hope.

Still waiting with bated breath for Big Government to magically solve all of the health care issues in this country?
