Anatomy of a mess

Long-time California resident Jennifer Rubin has written an interesting article for Commentary magazine which details how the out-of-control spending, anti-business policies and ever-more intrusive socially "progressive" Nanny-state laws supported by both parties in that state, as well as some of the more ridiculous propositions approved by the voters there, have left the Golden State in such a morass, financial and otherwise.

The piece is well worth reading, as it represents a cautionary tale that warns of what's in store for the rest of the country if like-minded national politicians such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama are allowed to remain in charge.

California is a beautiful place to visit (and we have quite a few loved ones who reside within its borders, so we do indeed travel there from time to time), but there's no way we would ever consider living there until that place gets its act together, and from the looks of things it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon.
