... is Miami, Florida police officer J. Mayorga, for assaulting local photojournalist Stretch Ledford for taping the investigation of a crime scene while standing on a public sidewalk outside the yellow taped police boundaries:
"You need to stop taping me, I'm undercover"
In full uniform and driving a marked police cruiser. Right.
You'd think being repeatedly exposed and embarrassed by journalists and photography-rights activists such as Ledford and Carlos Miller for their illegal behavior would be enough for that department to change its abusive departmental practices towards citizens engaged in lawful activities.
You'd think.

First, I want to say that the cop was an idiot, no doubt...
If you watch the video all the way through though, the cameraman WAS inside the area they wanted cordoned off..... they just ran out of tape (listen to the male cop say so...) and did not have the total area cordoned off yet.
The camera man backed up and the cops came towards him and then turned to his right....so, technically, he had been inside the area.
Doug, if that's the worst "assault" the guy ever gets, he's way ahead of most of us. It reminds me of the guy who called the cops after Richard Simmons bitch slapped him in the airport.
Rather a wuss by my standards. When I was a kid, I got worse than that before breakfast on a GOOD day.
It doesn't matter how non-severe (for lack of a better term, I'm tired) the contact was. If you or I touch a police officer in that manner we go to jail. Why won't the same happen to her?
