Unbelievable

I was just this morning thinking that it was a slow week for topics for this blog, when lo and behold I read Dear Abby in the paper this afternoon and find this: (first question).

This gentleman hands down wins the booby prize of the year, maybe the decade. I mean he is breathtaking in his idiocy. A law enforcement "professional" that leaves a loaded handgun lying around the house with 2 small children and a teenager present, because it's too hard to get out of the holster? How about getting a holster that works on an intelligence level that you can figure out? Too easy of a solution? What happens if he has to draw his weapon while on duty? I can see it now, "Hey, can you wait while I get my shotgun out of the squad car, I sorta have this problem with my pistol holster. Thanks for understanding."

From the article:

"He insists, "It can't be fired while it's in the holster." "

Wanna bet? Ever seen the places small children can get their equally small fingers into? And why would you ever want to even take that chance?

Please, please, please someone find out who this nitwit is, and find him a job far away from firearms.

And, as always, only law enforcement officers are "professional" enough to handle firearms. The peasants just wouldn't know what to do.

I think he was using "It's too hard to unholster" as an excuse for why it was safe since the kiddies OBVIOUSLY couldn't get the gun from such a good retention holster.

The man is undoubtably an idiot. LEaving the safety issue aside, he's an idiot for treating his wife so condescendingly.

Gun safes are cheaper than funerals, bub. Keep it on you or keep it locked. End of story.
