Yet even more Caligula in the Minneapolis Fire Department

I previously blogged about this story here and here, about the first openly lesbian fire chief in Minneapolis being investigated for denying promotions to former girlfriends, and giving preferential treatment to other girlfriends in the department, as well as to other lesbians. Now we find out that in addition to the charges she is already accused of, she sandbagged a male employee for daring to transfer to a fire station where one of her "friends" worked, causing the friend to go to another station. She apparently told a fire captain to give the man non-passing grades for work that he had done, even though the captain had not seen any work to evaluate him on. Sounds like the work of an insecure, petty tyrant to me.

Can anyone say with a straight face that this woman was the best choice for fire chief in Minneapolis, out of everyone in the entire department? I think not. The mayor and City Council were so desperate to show their tolerance and diversity that they promoted an apparent sexual predator, probable idiot, and definite all-around screwball, likely without any vetting at all.

From the article:
"The city recently doubled the amount it was spending on that investigation, from $50,000 to $100,000."

This is in addition to Bleskachek being on paid leave since March, and also in addition to any damages the city will have to pay from all of the lawsuits filed against it based on this woman's behavior. I hope the citizens of Minneapolis are okay about funding these kinds of social experiments. Next time, Minneapolis, just pick the best person for the job, regardless of who they are, what their color is, or who they like to shtup.
