Another update in the Woodbury police officer case

I just got off the phone with an employee in the St. Cloud City Attorney's Office. They called in response to my Data Practices request the other day. The employee was very friendly and helpful.

In short: The officer has been charged with 2 "long form complaints". Not being a lawyer, I'm guessing that this is more serious than a ticket, but not as serious as an arrest. He has been charged with:

1 count of unlawful discharge of a firearm inside the city limits.

1 count of reckless handling of a firearm.

They are now in a "pretrial phase".

I am satisfied that the officer is being treated as any private citizen would be. I must say that I have been incredibly impressed by the efficiency, professionalism and fairness of both the St. Cloud Police Department and the St. Cloud City Attorney's Office. I would be proud to be a citizen of that city.

I will not press for further updates in this case from St. Cloud authorities. I am satisfied that a fair and equitable resolution will be obtained. I will, however, post the results of my latest Data Practices request from the Woodbury Police Department, as I am interested in what, if any, departmental discipline will be meted out.
