The rich and famous don't have to follow the rules #1

Ordinarily, I don't follow the celebrity world closely, as it doesn't interest me, but this caught my attention today.

It seems that Madonna, the only Michigan native to have a British accent, and the person who sued a man to take away his madonna.com website (I guess she hasn't heard of the original Madonna - I think the name predates you, Madge) has adopted a boy from Malawi. The problem with that, you ask? Turns out the father is still alive, and only put the boy in the orphanage for a short time while he straightened out his family situation (the boy's mother and two siblings all died of malaria). He never intended for the boy to be adopted.

As if that weren't enough, from the article:

"Another raw nerve exposed by the adoption story has been what outsiders view as the special treatment given to Madonna because of her wealth, fame and power.
Malawian law bans adoptions by non-residents, but officials are granting an exemption to Madonna."

So now we have another recording/film/Hollywood celebrity that doesn't have to obey the law, and just does whatever she wants, because adopting African children seems to be the latest fad, replacing jeweled cell phones or pashmina scarves or whatever the last one was.

As a person who can't have children and must wait in line to adopt, this really hits me personally. I wish I had the clout to have pictures of children emailed to me, and the ability to just order up the most photogenic and have him delivered like a sack of groceries.
