Don't mess with the commissars in Saginaw

The City Council in Saginaw, Michigan, has a new rule banning the wearing of hats at their meetings. (Why? Because they like making and enforcing asinine rules, apparently).

At their meeting the other night, a college student showed up wearing a baseball hat. A police officer ordered him to take off his hat. The student declined. The officer then tried to grab the hat, and then grab the student wearing the hat. The student resisted, and was TASERED for his objection.

The student was arrested and charged with alarming and harassing conduct and assaulting a police officer, which is a felony in Michigan.

I didn't know wearing a hat inside could get someone in such trouble. It looks to me that the student was assaulted before any officer was. If I were the student, I would make them show me exactly what law I had violated. I believe the police violated the law of common sense, myself.

Again, I love how tinpot little city councilmembers get a taste of power and then transform into Soviet-style commissars, complete with jackbooted goons to do their bidding for them.
