Holy crap

The recently named Catholic archbishop of Warsaw, Poland, Stanislaw Wielgus, has already had to resign his shiny new position, as documents have come to light that show that he was an informant for the Polish secret police for decades, beginning in the 1960's. These same secret police were the ones that beat a popular Polish priest to death in 1984, apparently for the crime of visiting striking shipworkers in Gdansk.

Of course, just like the Church's pedophile "problem" in America, the Church's leadership has blamed the victims, not the perpetrator, and turned the issue into an accusation of attacks on the Church. From the article:

"However, the spokesman, the Reverend Federico Lombardi, said such attacks seemed to be the result of a desire for revenge on the part of the church's old enemies."

and:

""It is right to note that the case of Monsignor Wielgus is not the first, and probably won't be the last, attack against a church official based on documentation" from the secret services of the past regime, Lombardi added."

Wow. Solid evidence is uncovered that proves that a powerful priest helped a communist secret police force monitor, intimidate and even kill a captive population, and all the Church can do is whine about how everyone is out to get them. These jerks have absolutely no shame. They want to control and preach to you about every aspect of your life, all the while doing whatever turns them on in private, such as molesting young boys or becoming a turncoat and informing on their fellow priests and parishioners. Then, when the evidence is finally dragged out of them, they do the best they can to deflect blame from themselves by attacking the victims that fought to bring the evidence to light, instead of taking the blame and fixing the problem.

I hope that someday the Catholic Church has to hang out a "closed" sign, when it is sued out of existence by all of the people it has preyed upon throughout its entire history, from the days of the Inquisition forward. Of course, the Inquisition era is still with us today. The Church still maintains the Office of the Holy Inquisition, they just changed the name when it got too unpopular. It is now known as the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. Catholics, if these people knock on your door, run, don't walk the other way.
