The Jack-Booted Thug of the Week

...is Montrose Township, Michigan police officer Stephen Robinson. At a township board meeting in 2002, resident Thomas Leonard accused the board of cheating his family, commenting "That's why you're in a goddamn lawsuit". Officer Robinson then arrested Leonard for disorderly conduct and using obscene language.

The 6th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals has just ruled that Leonard's right to free speech had been violated, and that he is free to sue Robinson for false arrest.

From the article:

""It cannot be seriously contended that any reasonable peace officer, or citizen, for that matter, would believe that mild profanity while peacefully advocating a political position could constitute a criminal act," the three-judge panel wrote in Friday's decision."

It's always a good day when the Constitution is upheld.

A special Jack-Booted shout-out to the U.S. District Court judge (regretfully unnamed in the article) who dropped the original suit against Robinson, saying that he had probable cause to arrest Leonard. I think that there's probable cause that you and Officer Robinson are both idiots.
