Now we find out that Governor Corzine's SUV was speeding down the highway with its emergency lights on when his accident occurred:
"About 6 p.m. Thursday, police said, the driver of a red Ford pickup pulled over to the right side of the Garden State Parkway at mile post 43.4 in Galloway Township when he saw a black SUV approaching from behind with its emergency flashers activated.
The driver "was moving over in response to the flashing lights," said Capt. Al Della Fave, a State Police spokesman. "He knew there were emergency vehicles and he needed to get out of the way.""
To review, the all-fired emergency was the meeting between Don Imus and the Rutgers women's basketball team. We wouldn't want the good governor to be late for a little camera time, now would we?
Hopefully, the New Jersey media will find out the protocols for light and siren use by state vehicles. It really would be surprising if routine political events made the list.
