Elvira Arellano, the unrepentant, annoyingly shrill illegal immigrant, has finally been arrested and deported yet again to Mexico.
We've covered Arellano's story here on a couple of occasions. Arellano is an illegal immigrant, deported once already, that had been seeking "sanctuary" in a Chicago church and had been daring Federal immigration enforcement to deport her again. It seems that she finally got her wish.
Curiously, Arellano was arrested in Los Angeles, where she had apparently been agitating for more churches there to do for illegal aliens what the Chicago church had done for her. Even if her theory of churches being able to grant sanctuary from the government had been true, driving halfway across the country in order to speak publicly kind of defeats the purpose of "sanctuary", doesn't it?
The sad part about all of this is her son, Saul, who is an American citizen by virtue of being born here. He is a perfect example of an "anchor baby", which are children used by illegals to justify their continued stay in this country, despite their unlawful entry. Unfortunately, he is currently being treated as a pawn by pro-illegal immigration protesters, and has been paraded around on camera like any other prop. He's only eight years old, guys. There's no need to use him to further your agenda. He'll be with his mother soon enough, probably by the end of the day, according to MSNBC.
"She has said her son would be deprived of his rights as a U.S. citizen if he had to go to Mexico simply because she did."
He's only being deprived of his staying here because of choices that you made, Ms. Arellano. It's because you've repeatedly violated several U.S. laws that he is going to have to join you in Mexico. If you committed burglary and had to go to jail, he would be deprived of your care as well. Does that mean that all mothers should never be incarcerated for their crimes?
Arellano also made a statement that only further confirms my view that most illegal aliens are not here to become Americans, but only to be "foreigners in America", enjoying all of the advantages without any of the responsibilities, or even wanting to assimilate into American culture at all:
"I only have two choices. I either go to my country, Mexico, or stay and keep fighting. I decided to stay and fight."
See what I mean? Even after being in the U.S. for over ten years, and supposedly wanting to stay, she refers to Mexico as "her" country. She made the statement in Spanish, by the way. That's probably not going to get her a lot of sympathy from legal immigrants that did things the right way, and who are trying to learn English and become part of American life and culture, while still enjoying their cultural heritage. They like the line jumpers even less than I do.
Oh, and for those apologists that insist that Arellano wasn't hurting anyone by being here, she was caught in 2002 working inside the secure area at O'Hare Airport, using a fake Social Security number and other false documents. Sure, she isn't a terrorist, but if it's that easy for a run-of-the-mill illegal alien, one that already had a criminal record, to use identity theft to gain access to that sensitive area, then true terrorists can also use the same mechanisms to get in there as well, and use that opportunity to sabotage planes. That is why true border enforcement and control of illegal immigration is vitally important to our security, regardless of what the agitators would tell you.
Vaya con Dios, Ms. Arellano.
