You can't make this up - Abusive Missouri cop followup

How interesting is this?

It seems that the dash cam tape from St. George, Missouri Police Sergeant James Kuehnlein's patrol car has gone AWOL, as Chief Uhrig was forced to admit to Brett Darrow when he met with him yesterday:

"During the meeting Darrow asked to see the videotape from Kuehnlein's police car. But according to Uhrig, that footage, inexplicably, is nowhere to be found."

Inexplicably, huh? Son of a gun. I guess the K9 dog ate it.

Chief Uhrig states that Sgt. Kuehnlein told him that the recorder had a "glitch" on the night in question, but the chief told KMOX radio in an interview:

"Apparently the recording device was not working properly. Well, I in turn have checked the recording device, the in-car camera system, and it is functioning properly."

It seems that the only "glitch" is the one between Sgt. Kuehnlein's ears.

Of course, the good chief tried to insinuate that Mr. Darrow is out trying to "bait" his officers. That's not quite how it looked to me, unless asserting your Constitutional rights is now viewed as "baiting".

Since there is no conflicting tape, Darrow's version has to be accepted as the correct accounting of events that night. Therefore, why does Sgt. Kuehnlein still have a job?

Thanks to Joel Rosenberg for the heads-up on the updated info.
