The Jack-Booted Thug of the Week

...is Baltimore, Maryland police officer Jerome Hill, who is just having an awful time of it lately.

First is the news that a man named Steven Vernarelli has filed a $100 million lawsuit against Hill and the city of Baltimore, alleging that "he was stopped for no reason and sodomized with his own paper money" by Officer Hill.

"He took the money, ripped it and then reached behind me and shoved the twisted pieces," said Vernarelli."

I guess Mr. Vernarelli can be thankful that he didn't have a pocketful of silver dollars.

What's worse is the alleged actions of two other officers who seem to have witnessed what happened:

"The lawsuit claims two other unnamed officers laughed then left."

That's right, boys, yuck it up. No matter what a brother officer does, he's right and the peasants are wrong.

Next, the lawyer that filed the suit announces that there is another brutality victim that is going to be filing a separate action, alleging that the second man "was arrested and held in a paddy wagon for 12 hours. His mother, who was asking for help, was threatened that if she filed a complaint she would be arrested".

Finally, it seems that Officer Hill was picked to be sent into a situation staged by an undercover internal affairs officer as part of some sort of "integrity test". Predictably, he failed miserably:

"The charging documents state an undercover officer posed as a drug suspect and when Hill was dispatched, he punched the internal affairs officer in the face."

Hill has thankfully been suspended without pay, and has been charged with assault in the IA incident.

Only people such as Officer Hill have been deemed "professional enough" to carry handguns in my birth state of Maryland, as it is nearly impossible for a simple peasant to obtain a carry permit from the Maryland State Police, who have total discretion over who gets them. It seems to be working quite well for them, don't you think?
