A Hartford, Connecticut man, Andrew Glover, arrived home from the hospital after intestinal surgery to find cops tossing his apartment, apparently looking for child pornography. Warrant?
"The police didn't have search warrants"
Ah, who needs one? We're the cops, you'll do as we say or else.
In this case, the "or else" is really, really bad. After Glover confronted the officers about being in his home and pawing through his belongings, the cops then allegedly assaulted him, including ripping out the catheter attached to his body, before leaving the man there without medical attention.
It later comes to light that Mr. Glover's neighbors were the ones targeted for the porn investigation, and they have been arrested and jailed. Glover?
"Glover wasn't involved in child pornography, has not been charged and has no criminal record"
Wrong house syndrome again, it seems. It sure would have been nice for the officers to do something besides leaving an innocent man lying on the floor after ripping various tubes out of him, don't you think?
Mr. Glover has now given notice to the city of Hartford that he intends to sue the pants off the city over the incident, to replace the ones that were torn off of him for no reason at all.
