Reverse racism

Let me ask a rhetorical question:

If Cindy McCain was found to be on a videotape spouting racial epithets to a crowd, wouldn't the dominant media consider that to be a newsworthy story, and place it at the top of every newscast from here to next August?

Well, we might just get the chance to see if the newsies decide to do the same thing with this story, if it's proven to be accurate.

Larry Johnson, a liberal blogger, is reporting that he has four sources that inform him that a tape exists of Michelle Obama speaking at Jeremiah Wright's church, a speech in which she rails against "whitey".

Personally, I don't care what Michelle Obama has to say about anything, as she's not the one running for office. But in an era where Don Imus, John Rocker and others get crucified and ostracized for any uttering even perceived as racist by someone, or taken the wrong way by even one member of some aggrieved party, even if obviously delivered as a comedy bit, while the likes of Jesse Jackson, Dave Chappelle, and even Robert Byrd get excused from any responsibility for their racist beliefs and statements based on the color of their skin or their political leanings, it'll be interesting to see how such an obviously racist speech as this, if found to be true, will try to be explained away and excused as some sort of "expression of freedom". An expression denied to white males, of course.

Sorry. If one person can get nailed for calling an entire segment of people a derogatory term, then the same penalty should apply to every person, especially one married to someone who purports to "rise above" racial issues.

If this tape in fact exists, Obama's "uniting all races" campaign is in serious trouble, especially as he has stated numerous times that he just had no idea how divisive his pastor's rantings were. He sure can't say that about his wife, now can he?
