Another life saved by the judicious use of an accessible firearm

A Phoenix, Arizona woman was able to successfully defend herself by using a firearm to shoot and kill an intruder who had broken into her home.

The shootee apparently was under a restraining order to stay away from the woman. The order obviously did not work. The firearm did.

"Investigators say around 2:30 Sunday morning that man forced his way into the woman's house near 40th Avenue and Thunderbird and she was prepared" (Emphasis mine)

The woman is not expected to face any charges in the incident.

Criminals and psychotic thugs don't pay a whit of attention to pieces of paper ordering them not to do something. Police often respond to a 911 call too late to help, if the call is able to be made at all. This woman had the equipment and the will to protect herself, and she is still alive tonight as a result.

No, no, no! Everyone with a brain knows that firearms are for reckless cowboy types with small penises and no brains. They cause more problems than they solve. The only people who should have them are police officers, and even then, we should strive to follow England's example so that the average cop doesn't have a sidearm. /sarcasm

In all seriousness, though, I have a friend whose wife hates firearms and won't allow him to have one. I guess she figures that because she is nice and peaceful, others will treat her the same way. I hope that she is never in a position to have to use deadly force to defend herself. I find her attitude amazing considering the fact that she lives in a city with a high rate of sexual assaults. Oh, well, if she wants to be a no-gun-having hippie, that is her right. I just wish she didn't vote for people who want to strip me of my right to defend myself.
