Throwing away a career over egg sandwiches

Rockaway Township, New Jersey police sergeant Christopher Stahl apparently thought it was his right as a "public servant" to take whatever he wanted from convenience stores without paying.

He thought wrong.

(Ex) Sergeant Stahl pleaded guilty to theft charges for stealing $30.00 worth of breakfast sandwiches from a local Kwikee-Mart type place last year. He has to pay a fine of $100, and has lost his job as a police officer.

Kudos to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office for pursuing this case, as thugs like Stahl give good, service-oriented police officers everywhere a bad name, all for the sake of abusing their law-enforcement powers for personal gain.

"Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said the plea 'represents the fact that no one is above the law.'"

Amen.

What about the other 7 officers, he was getting breakfast for? Don't think that this was the first time the store had provided "free" breakfast. It was a morning ritual. He just skipped he part where he was supposed to make the token gesture of payment and a customer saw it and reported it.( believe the idiot actually said "We don't usually pay.) Chris isn't a truly bad person, he's a truly stupid person. Normally this would have been handled in house and hushed up. This was a witch hunt because Chris was disliked by his fellow officers. I'm not defending what he did but let's not kid ourselves, this goes on everyday and over thins much bigger than breakfast.
