Washington, D.C. police nabbed a sergeant in the U.S. Secret Service for solicitation of prostitution very early last Saturday morning, after the good officer allegedly propositioned an undercover police officer posing as a lady of the night.
Oops.
The sergeant was cited and released, although the local cops refuse to give out his name or booking photo. Fair enough, if the officer was undercover on an active investigation, and disclosure of his details would compromise the case. He wasn't, though:
"The sergeant, driving his Secret Service vehicle and in uniform"
So Sergeant Horny breaks the law while on duty and in full view of the public while he's supposed to be working for those same taxpayers, and the local fuzz can't be bothered to release his name and picture, just as they would any other peasant getting arrested for the same offense? That hardly seems like equitable treatment. Once again, the "special people" get privileges which their behavior proves they don't deserve, simply because of what they do for a living.
Cities across the country such as St. Paul, Minnesota are posting pictures of johns busted (NOT convicted, merely arrested) for similar crimes on their official websites, in an effort to curtail the practice. Why shouldn't this fellow be treated just like them?
"The Secret Service said the man will be placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and will also face an internal investigation."
Another behind-the-scenes "investigation", the result of which will never be released to the public, I'm sure.

The most hilarious thing to me is that the perp didn't figure out something was wrong when the hooker didn't keep her distance from his MARKED vehicle. Don't ladies of the night usually, you know, avoid cops if they can?
In other words, DC sleazies are USED TO being propositioned by people in government agencies driving their marked company cars.

Of course, this ignores the fact that consenting adults have the God-given right to fornicate, whether or not there is money or property being exchanged.

Whatever the merits or problems of legalizing prostitution might be, I do hope that we can agree that when prostitutes aren't surprised to see on duty Secret Service officers coming for their services, it does reflect something wrong with the culture in the District of Columbia. No?
