OK behavior then, but oh so wrong today

You really couldn't make this stuff up, as no one would believe it as a work of fiction. Yet here we are.

The FBI yesterday issued a press release which crowed about the fact that former U.S. Judge Samuel B. Kent "was sentenced today to 33 months in prison for obstruction of justice".

What exactly did Judge Kent do to get almost three years in the clink? Why, he admitted lying under oath about his sexual activities, you see:

"Kent admitted that when he appeared before the committee in June 2007, he falsely testified about his conduct with Person B."

Sound familiar? It should, at least to Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer, one of the two proud fellows who issued said press release. Breuer, one might recall, just happens to be the former special White House counsel who helped defend Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky proceedings, in which his client admitted to pretty much the exact same action, yet got off scot-free, save for paying a fine and losing his Arkansas law license for a measly five years.

Of course, back then Breuer and the rest of Clinton's apologists steadfastly maintained that "It was just a lie about sex", "It's a private, personal matter" and "He's already been humiliated; can't we just move on?", among many other pathetic excuses rationalizing the President's purposely giving false testimony in a Federal lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct on his part.

How come poor Judge Kent doesn't get the same favorable consideration from Mr. Breuer?
