Happy Holidays from the Empire State

The New York State Police, apparently having no serious crime to battle, is once again gearing up this Thanksgiving holiday to raise the state some revenue "ensure motorist safety" by setting up dozens of Fourth Amendment-violating roadblocks all over the state to make sure the hapless proles are all wearing their seatbelts:

"State Police say Troopers issued nearly 19,000 seat belt tickets during the campaign last year."

Mass civil disobedience generally indicates that a given law is utterly useless, a la the former national 55 mph speed limit or Prohibition.  The masters never learn, however, so the intrusions on personal freedoms continue apace.
