A sad day in Chicago

A Marine just back from two tours of duty in Iraq is shot to death on his way home from a Cubs game. Apparently a case of mistaken identity, as his car was similar to one suspected of criminal activity (read: gang related).

Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. It is almost impossible to purchase or keep a handgun in the city limits, even for law enforcement professionals. Seems to be working out really well for them. Of course, Mayor King Richard Daley has a personal army of 30 Chicago police officers, and aldermen can carry concealed weapons without a permit, so what do they care happens to the peasantry?

Godspeed, Cpl. Martinez. You will be missed.
