Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., crashed his car into a barrier at 2:45 in the morning in Washington, D.C. He was then observed staggering around and claiming that he was late for a vote. Apparently the responding patrol officers were not allowed to give Kennedy a sobriety test, and he was taken home by someone else. This comes two weeks after Kennedy was in yet another car wreck.
This is absolute insanity. Any regular person wrecking his or her car into a security barrier next to the Capitol building in the middle of the night would be sitting in jail, regardless of whether they were impaired or not. But does Kennedy, with his history of drug abuse and erratic behavior, get an impairment test? Of course not. Instead, he gets driven home and tucked into bed, so that he can get his beauty sleep. I guess Orwell was right, some animals are more equal than others. Here's Drudge's link.
The U.S. Capitol Police phone number is (202) 224-1677. I plan on contacting them, how about you?
At least he didn't kill someone, like his father did. What a family legacy.

He's aparently blaming it on a prescription drug and claiming (at least 24 hours later) not to have had ANY alcohol before driving. Maybe that's true and maybe it ain't but since the Sgt's and Watch commander sent the original officers home and NO sobriety test was conducted at that time, we have NO way of knowing for sure.
