Doofuses

A limo driver in Nassau County, New York suffered a stroke while driving his car. When he was pulled over for erratic driving by officers, he told them that he wasn't feeling well and had trouble controlling his movements. The officers gave him a field sobriety test, which was negative, so naturally they then arrested him for drunk driving, and took him to jail, where he sat for two hours and was administered more alcohol and drug tests, all of which of course were negative, and he was then taken to the hospital.

A judge just dismissed the county's bid to have the man's false arrest suit dismissed. Good. Why even have field sobriety tests, if you're just going to ignore them anyway? Field tests of cerebellar function are subjective in any event, but a negative result, combined with the man's symptoms, were an obvious sign that something other than intoxication was going on. A stroke victim has approximately 3 hours to get medical attention in order to prevent permanent damage, and these idiots robbed this man of his chance to get that help. I hope he cleans up.
