Eye-opening

Read this excellent article from the L.A. Weekly, and see if you don't want to hurl. It's about the city of Cudahy, California, ten miles from downtown Los Angeles, and all of the problems that it's been having. From a thoroughly corrupt government complete with a Boss Hogg-style city manager, to prominent businesses that have open ties to Mexican drug gangs, to such a large population of illegal immigrants that only a quarter of the residents are eligible to vote, this town in my opinion represents the "canary in the coal mine" that shows what is going to happen to the rest of Southern California if illegal immigration isn't checked and soon. The article actually has the guts to say that Cudahy is more a Mexican border town than an American city.

Here's an example of good leadership: One bar, the Potrero Club, has had 700 police calls since 2003, but the city leaders, far from trying to shut it down, instead book it for official events.

This is the quote that made me stop and think:

"The legal maneuvering that led to new leadership in Cudahy was part of a larger strategy, says former Cudahy councilwoman Araceli Gonzalez, a child of Mexican immigrants. “They were very outspoken,” says Gonzalez of the lawyers who advised Cudahy and Bell Gardens. “They were telling people they were going to take over these cities and put Latinos in power.”"

Oh, and just in case you still believe the fantasy that illegal aliens don't vote: they not only do vote, they run for election and win. Just look at Cudahy Vice-Mayor Osvaldo Conte, who was recently arrested for DUI:

"He was not booked as Osvaldo Conde but as Osvaldo Lopez. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of drunken driving. But the Weekly has learned that Conde has two different birth dates and two different Social Security numbers on business-license records in Cudahy. Conde lives part time in Lynwood, four miles south of Cudahy. Conde would not respond to the Weekly’s requests for an interview."

These people don't want to be American, they want to be Mexicans who just happen to be in America, complete with Mexican-style corruption and ruling by fear and oppression. They get their power from intimidating the large numbers of illegal immigrants, who ironically end up with the worst treatment from these overlords.

La Raza indeed.
