Right out of the Sopranos

Hoboken City Council President Christopher Campos gets arrested for DWI in New York City. Booked? Not so fast. First, New York City Highway Patrol Officer Liotta has to call the Hoboken Police Department for a little "guidance" (full transcript here):

"P.O. Liotta: Of course this is a purely hypothetical situation."

"P.O. Liotta: Um, if a certain person identifies himself as the City Council president for the city of Hoboken, New Jersey?"

"P.O Liotta: Um... would it be a good or maybe a bad thing for him to become a guest of the city tonight?"

Nothing like a little police favoritism to start off the week. To his credit, the Hoboken officer told the NY officer to do his duty and book the good councilman, although he did manage to slip in a little dig, noting that the Hoboken police had been working without a contract for the past two years, implying that the councilmember had something to do with that.

New Yorkers, remember this little tidbit the next time you get pulled over for something, and ask for the "Christopher Campos" discount.
