The TSA unlawfully detains a Hindu man for over 4 hours at JFK airport after which, even after being cleared for travel, JetBlue Airlines refuses to let him board his flight. Read his entire account of the incident for full effect.
During his detainment the man was asked such questions as how religious he was, how many times a day he prays and whether or not he would consent to following instructions from a female flight attendant. Remember, the man is Hindu, not Muslim.
Bonus: The man returns to his New York apartment to find that it had apparently been tossed without a warrant.
Feel safer yet?

Today's TASER Travesty
At least one Peru, Indiana police officer is currently on administrative leave after an incident in which a 64-year-old man with end-stage Alzheimer's disease residing in a locked nursing home was TASED three times by cops for not following their barked orders, which the patient most likely didn't understand anyway since according to his wife he's not even comprehending at a two-year-old's level:
"Three Peru officers and a Dukes EMS unit arrived at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home just before 6 a.m. Sunday after staff reported resident James Howard was combative and struck several employees."
Of course Mr. Howard's bad behavior had to be addressed, but you're telling us three strapping officers and (presumably) two paramedics couldn't get control of a sick old man without shocking him into oblivion?
We once again point out that the TASER is designed to be a "less-than-lethal" defensive weapon, not a consequence-free pain compliance tool for lazy cops to use when they don't feel like doing their jobs properly.
The local chief is asking for patience while the incident is "investigated". We hope he wraps things up quickly and metes out discipline where it's due.

Unintended consequences
California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation yesterday designed to collect online tax revenue from corporations that do not have a physical presence in the state (because the Supreme Court has ruled that such a practice is unconstitutional) by somehow tortuously redefining "company" to include any and all small satellite businesses that happen to subcontract for that corporation.
For example, this would be akin to decreeing, say, Roy's Nuts and Bolts of California to be a subsidiary of a fictitious Iowa-based Onlinefasteners.com simply because Roy happened to ship a couple of odd-sized lag bolts to a customer in Oregon who ordered them online from Onlinefasteners, thus making a couple of bucks to which California obviously has no claim.
Amazon.com and Overstock.com have subsequently announced that effective immediately they would be ending their affiliate programs with small California companies (estimated to be as many as 25,000) such as independent bookstores and small retail shops, meaning that many of them will now most likely be driven out of business and thus will not be contributing any more local sales and income taxes into the state's coffers. Other online companies are expected to quickly follow suit.
In other words, greedy California not only stands to gain nothing, it's actually going to lose badly-needed tax revenue as a direct result of this ill-conceived law.
Well done, Governor. Enjoy your eventual heaping bowlful of nothing.

The Jack-Booted Thug(s) of the Week...
... are the Department of Education (?) SWAT team goons who broke down Stockton, California resident Kenneth Wright's door at 6 a.m. yesterday morning while apparently looking for his student loan-defaulting estranged wife (who doesn't even live there), traumatizing this innocent man and his three young children:
"Wright came downstairs in his boxer shorts as a S.W.A.T team barged through his front door. Wright said an officer grabbed him by the neck and led him outside on his front lawn.
'He had his knee on my back and I had no idea why they were there,' Wright said."
Mr. Wright was handcuffed and he and his kids were made to sit in a patrol car for six hours, after which they were finally released without so much as an apology or explanation.
Think about all the myriad implications of this incident for a second and try hard to not let the rage build:
1. The Department of Education, of all government agencies, somehow "needs" a taxpayer-funded SWAT team that is equipped and willing to perform dynamic entries. How many of these sorts of unnecessary raids do they do each year, for Pete's sake?
2. The Department of Education convinced a judge to sign a dangerous (for all parties) "no-knock" warrant allowing said SWAT team to kick in the door of an innocent private citizen solely because his spouse has an unpaid tuition loan. Does that sound even remotely like the kind of emergency or imminent deadly threat situation that would nominally require such drastic measures?
Here's the most incredibly stupid description of such a warrant service we've ever read:
"The U.S. Department of Education issued the search and called in the S.W.A.T for his wife's defaulted student loans."
Utterly infuriating madness.
3. Even if the above circumstances were somehow justified, the idiots on the SWAT team didn't even bother to perform the expected surveillance or investigation to ascertain whether the target of their little operation even lived at the address, much less if there were innocent children around that could be terrorized or injured by their unbelievably hazardous and stupid cowboy raid.
4. The idiots on the SWAT team manhandled, abused and mechanically restrained a person who presented no threat and offered no resistance, and then forced him and his frightened kids to sit in a hot police cruiser for hours in front of all their neighbors, no doubt causing the entire family enormous stress, fear and humiliation.
5. Once the idiots on the SWAT team figured out they had screwed up, the arrogant officers basically uncuffed Mr. Wright, shoved him towards his smashed front door and took off without any sort of apology whatsoever. Federal cops are never wrong, you know.
Enough is enough. This is one of the most egregious abuses of official police powers we have ever documented here, and we've recorded some doozies. Those thugs (and their incompetent and abusive martinet bosses who unleashed them, as well as the judge who allowed this travesty to occur) need to be separated from their government jobs in short order, and every freedom-loving American must contact their representatives in Congress to demand that all funding for these Federal goon squads be immediately cut off.
Please don't let this challenge to our independence and liberty go unanswered. The next innocent person's door to be kicked in could be your own. Are you paid up on your student loans?
(Many thanks to our good friend and fellow blogger Bike Bubba for the heads-up on this story)

Jack-Booted followups
1. In response to national criticism over their abusive treatment of a law-abiding resident who dared to exercise his rights by walking to a local auto parts store while legally openly carrying his holstered pistol the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Police have now announced that they will prone out at gunpoint "inconvenience" any other person who dares to do the same thing:
For posting a legally-made recording on the Internet.
Ah, nothing like a little malicious prosecution to intimidate the peasants into giving up their freedoms. Perhaps it's time for some of those residents to "inconvenience" the department with a civil-rights lawsuit seeking to immediately halt this outrageously thuggish and abusive behavior.
We have been enthusiastic (and lucrative) visitors to that city in the past. We will not go there again until that rogue agency is reminded that their job description does not include making up laws as they go along.
2. Steven Taubenkibel, a public information officer with the Washington, D.C. Metro Transit Police, laughably insists that our eyes deceive us and that the disabled man two of his agency's officers were recorded body-slamming to the pavement while arresting the suspect for drinking in public in fact "fell"" out of his mobility scooter because he was resisting.
Sure he did. How clumsy of him. It's a good thing those cops were right there to catch him and assist him gently to the ground.
Taubenkibel is also refusing to release the names of the officers involved in the incident, even though that information is usually immediately publicly available. Maybe he will argue that once again we're seeing things and that the two fully-uniformed cops were in fact undercover and thus cannot be named.
The infuriating fallout from these two incidents firmly underscores the vital role citizens play in police accountability when they are able to freely practice their right to photograph and audio/video record government workers in public. The age of departments getting away with "it didn't happen if we say it didn't" is over, and that is a very good thing.
"The warning comes after Mark Fiorino, a suburban Philadelphia IT worker, posted an audiotape to YouTube of his tense, 45-minute encounter with police in February over his exposed handgun. The video went viral and captured national attention.
After Fiorino released the audiotape, he was charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. He now faces up to two years in prison."

Your tax dollars at work
Remember when we were informed by those in power that General Motors (as opposed to the thousands of other businesses in the same dire financial straits at the time) was "too big to fail", which is why those feckless martinets subsequently used our tax dollars (confiscated from us on pain of imprisonment) to acquire 33% of the company?
Well, here's the return on our forced "investment":
"In late 2010, General Motors agreed to sponsor a propaganda film celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP made film titled (translated to English) 'The Birth of a Party' or 'The Great Achievement of Founding the Party' is set to premiere all over the Communist nation on June 15 reported China AutoWeb last September."
We currently drive two Chevrolets. They are for sure the last GM products we will ever own.

Atrocious cowardice all around
King County, Washington Sheriff's Deputy Matt Paul is still being allowed by his boss, Sheriff Sue Rahr, to prey on the public despite years of documented excessive force complaints as well as warnings by his supervisors to "avoid arresting people simply because they challenged his authority or were disrespectful", and after Paul recently cost local taxpayers a 10 million dollar settlement after slamming an innocent man into a wall, causing massive brain damage and crippling him for life.
KONG-TV has the details:
"I can't turn around and fire a deputy because I have concerns."
A 2000 page record of abusive and out-of-control behavior and a multimillion-dollar payout are now simply dismissed as "concerns". Way to protect and serve your public, Sheriff.

No more bumping on the English bumper car ride
The "health and safety" shock troops in the Nanny-state paradise that used to be Great Britain once again get their padded selves all worked up at the prospect of some of their subjects actually having fun:
"Staff at all three Butlin resorts in Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness are instructed to ban anyone found guilty of bumping into each other in the electric cars equipped with huge bumpers.

Bemused customers who assume that the ‘no bumping sign’ is in jest are told to drive around slowly in circles rather than crash into anyone else for fear of an injury that could result in the resort being sued."
Sounds like a real swingin' time.
"[Resort director Jeremy Pardey] said the rules are 'pretty vigilant' to avoid anyone being hurt, although customers are not asked to wear crash helmets." (emphasis ours)
Good Lord.

Only in Britain
Trash collectors in Stockport, England refused to empty 74-year-old grandmother Kay McIntyre's compost waste bin after she and her grandson filled it with weeds from her garden because "they claimed the plants had too much mud stuck to their roots."
Ms McIntyre filed an official complaint over the incident, and in response a low-level bureaucratic functionary actually showed up and dug through her bin to verify that the dirt-to-weed ratio was within acceptable parameters (which it indeed was).
It must be so heartening for those British subjects to learn the insane lengths to which their government is going to ensure their "health and safety".
By the way, here's the entire trash sorting process for that particular town:
"In addition to their green bin for garden and food waste, householders in Stockport are issued with a blue bin for paper and card, a brown bin for plastic bottles, glass and cans, and a black one for everything else."
4 large wheeled bins for every household. How efficient (and attractive).

British "health and safety" strikes again
Some people laughably referred to as "risk assessors" in England have proposed banning fire extinguishers in common areas of apartment buildings in that country because, unbelievably (or not, this of course being Great Britain), "they are a safety hazard".
Apparently these insane Nanny-state officials want the subjects over there to merely race for the exits while wetting their pants instead of taking the responsibility of putting out minor blazes themselves before they rage out of control.
What are those peasants supposed to do if, say, such a fire happens to be blocking the only exit of a high-rise building? Put a kettle on and pray that firefighters aren't otherwise occupied?
"Dorset Fire and Rescue defended the move, saying: 'Obviously, in some cases, an extinguisher could come in useful but, with new building regulations, every escape route should be completely fireproof.'"
And the Titanic was unsinkable.

More of that old time British Nanny-state insanity
British subject Andrew Richardson was working on a remote Texas ranch in 1981 when he was bitten by a rattlesnake. Once he recovered and went back to work, his boss lawfully gave him a .22 caliber revolver with which to dispatch other snakes, in order to prevent a repeat of his unpleasant experience.
After leaving to work in the Middle East a year later, Richardson completely forgot about the pistol and it ended up in a shoebox in storage back in England along with many of his other household items until 2008, when he turned the contents of the storage unit over to an auctioneer for sale. A worker found the pistol when inventorying the items and contacted the local police.
Richardson, a person with no criminal history who was by then working in Massachusetts, got five years in an English prison for his 27-year-old innocent error.
Here's the part of the story that illustrates perfectly how the draconian penalties being meted out over there are actually more about the British "authorities" controlling the subjects through fear and intimidation than about any so-called gun "safety":
"During the prosecutor's questioning as to why I hadn't handed it in during the 2004 amnesty (I was working abroad at the time and didn't know about it), the judge inquired whether I'd considered throwing it into a stream. The air thinned in the courtroom as 40 people sucked in their breath in shock. My reply was along the lines of: 'I thought that would've been the most careless thing anyone could do, your honour.'"
How can a jurist be so hopelessly stupid?
Richardson fortunately was released after serving only eight months once his appeal was granted, but he isn't by any means the only law-abiding British person to be caught up in this kind of legal nightmare. There's this fellow:
"Then there's the tale of the senior bank director. An avid countryside sportsman, he attended a shoot in Essex one Friday, but instead of going home to Surrey, stayed in his Belgravia house over the weekend as he had city social engagements. His 12-bore [shotgun] was locked in the gun cabinet on Friday evening, but a nosy neighbour who saw him carrying it indoors, secured in the right place, called the constabulary. He was arrested and imprisoned: his licence address was Surrey, so locking it up in Belgravia constituted both unlicensed possession and concealment."
And this poor lady:
"A 73-year-old charity shop proprietor found a package of old clothes outside her shop, with a handgun wrapped in them. She closed the shop and took it straight to the police, whereupon she was arrested for possession of a lethal pistol, and imprisoned on remand pending trial."
Jailed for doing the responsible and moral thing. That will surely encourage the peasants to engage in more of the same behavior, no?
We're sure the violent crime rate in England dropped noticeably once these dangerous businesspeople were safely locked away, even though at the very same time "22% of youths caught carrying concealed handguns in London were let off with a caution."
These are exactly the sort of repressive, unfair, freedom-sapping and ultimately doomed-to-fail policies that rabidly anti gun politicians such as Chuck Schumer and Carolyn McCarthy as well as organizations like the Brady Campaign and Violence Policy Center envision for this country, which is why Second Amendment advocates fight so hard to prevent that nightmare scenario from ever becoming reality.

...Or maybe he didn't get it. Prove it.
"President Obama finally and quietly accepted his 'transparency' award from the open government community this week — in a closed, undisclosed meeting at the White House on Monday."
Woody Allen would be literally laughed out of his agent's office for suggesting the kinds of ludicrous situations to which our president is a regular party.
Oh, wait a minute - just like his undeserved Nobel Prize, this award was apparently given for the potential efforts at "transparency" that Dear Leader's devoted followers are fervently hoping will still occur at some later point in time, not for anything the president's (not) accomplished to date:
"'I don’t feel moved today to say 'thank you, Mr. President,'" said Steve Aftergood, the director of the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists. But he said he understands the award to be 'aspirational,' in recognition of Obama’s potential to do more on the transparency front.
'And in that sense, one could say it resembles the award at the Nobel Peace Prize,' Aftergood said. 'It’s not because Obama brought peace to anyone but because people hoped he would be a force for good in the world, and maybe that’s the way to understand this award.'"
Sure it is, Mr. Aftergood, sure it is (sweet last name, by the way). Whatever helps you rationalize your decision to give an honor for openness to someone who didn't earn it and who ironically won't accept it in public.

Someone has to say it
Ross Zimmerman, whose son Gabe was murdered in the recent Tucson tragedy, is now being heartlessly used as a poster boy by the execrable Michael Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" campaign to lobby for "reasonable" gun control measures. Unfortunately for him (and them), though, Zimmerman has no earthly idea about what exactly he's supposed to be advocating for:
"'I'm not educated on the details of the gun laws,' he told HuffPost on Monday, 'but there are some things that are pretty obvious, like background checks.'" (emphasis ours)
We are truly saddened by and sympathetic to that father's unimaginable loss, but once a person attempts to milk a personal tragedy for political reasons he or she becomes fair game for criticism.
Perhaps Mr. Zimmerman should get some knowledge on the subject before he begins agitating for yet more useless laws that would not have stopped his son's murderer that day. Otherwise he becomes just another Rep. Carolyn "The Shoulder Thing That Goes Up" McCarthy (D-NY), a person similarly (and regrettably, of course) affected by gun violence who somehow feels that sad fact gives her a free license to not bother to "educate" herself about items and products about which she knows nothing except that they somehow "look" evil to her, which then becomes her sole reason for trying to deny ownership of them to law-abiding individuals:
As everyone with a smidgen of factual knowledge about the incident knows, the cowardly shooter Loughner before his horrific act was an individual who had neither a criminal record nor a mental-health diagnosis that would have disqualified him from any sort of background check, including the very one he passed when purchasing his firearm. How would subjecting law-abiding individuals to yet another unnecessary government intrusion (a double-background check?) into their lives have prevented the massacre? One simply cannot prevent every bad thing in the world from happening. That's the price of living in a free society.
"[Zimmerman] said he hoped the rally would help address the need to create programs in Tucson that help gun sellers identify mentally unstable individuals."
He (and by extension the shills who are cynically using him) apparently believes that gun-store owners now have to be licensed as interventional psychiatrists before being allowed to open their doors. Isn't the federal government, by the way, the very entity that, through its cumbersome HIPAA law, made such health records so very hard for anyone to access without a direct doctor-patient relationship or a signed waiver from the patient? Unintended consequences, indeed.
"'It was a diverse group of people who got shot ... so families are grieving in diverse ways,' [Zimmerman] said."
We're extremely sorry, but we simply fail to see what such meaningless PC pap has to do with the debate at hand.

Off topic but interesting, at least to me
There is a special hell waiting for the GM automotive engineer who thought it would be an awesome idea to make the removal and replacement (at a book rate of $92) of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe's front bumper a necessary step to facilitating the replacement of a right front turn-signal bulb.
Fortunately for us, our service writer only charged half price for the job, as he also considers it criminally stupid to make such a simple maintenance chore so darn hard to accomplish.
Thanks, Government Motors, for helping to make our decision to end our almost three-decade association with you (because of the Obama Administration's takeover of your company) such an easy one.

Every law infraction is now "terrorism", at least to certain Feds
A North Carolina man named Bernard von Nothaus was convicted in federal court this past week on charges of coining and distributing his own silver dollars, which violates both the Constitution as well as the U.S. Code.
While his unlawful actions were indeed deserving of punishment, they most certainly did not represent "a unique form of domestic terrorism", as U.S. Attorney Anne M. Tompkins amusingly crowed in her triumphant press release announcing the verdict.
We look forward to seeing what other fairly minor crimes (such as possessing a single found bald eagle feather, maybe?) will be the next dastardly deeds to be breathlessly (and incorrectly) described as "terrorist acts" by such masters of hyperbole as Ms. Tompkins.

We won't be silenced
We received our first anonymous death threat the other day, courtesy of a cowardly supporter of Dear Leader:
"I like our president. I used to like you for good commentary on firearms rights. You do understand firearms rights, but you understand nothing else. I hope that ALL conservatives get killed soon. I have tried to reason with you before, and you were even open to discussion once, but now you are a pure, utter, nasty, cruel liar for the wingnuts who want to destroy the Constitution and American freedom.
I live in MN. Stay in AZ. If I find that you have come back up here, watch out; I have firearms too, I know how to use them, and you will not see me coming."
This rant is par for the course for the sorts of leftist thugs and bullies who loudly professed a desire for "civility" and "reasoned discourse" in the wake of the Tucson tragedy, at least until one politely disagrees with their views as well as their idol's political agenda. Then, as we see here, the gloves come off and their true tendencies in favor of censorship and intimidation once again bubble to the surface.
(By the way, thanks for ironically helping to make one of the anti-gun lobby's main arguments for them, numbnuts.)
This troll actually isn't as anonymous as he thinks he is. An alert friend of ours who works in IT has traced the IP address of the commenter, and it appears that our would-be silencer is a Minnesota state government worker (no big surprise there). Our attempt to further ID the person is ongoing.
We decided to do the responsible and prudent thing and report this matter to the Scottsdale Police Department, although we didn't think that action would do much good. Sure enough, Officer Johnson of that agency informs us that Zippy's rantings don't rise to the level of a "direct threat" (although it certainly seems that way to us), happens to be just "Internet talk" and thus we are completely on our own unless further specific statements or actions are made.
We do disagree with Officer Johnson's conclusion and will soon be escalating our criminal complaint to a higher pay grade at SPD, but in the meantime we are perfectly capable of self-protection and refuse to be cowed by this cheap threat. This behavior in our experience is typical of most Obama supporters, as they are intellectually incapable of defending their hero's socialist policies and so must resort to these types of thuggish behaviors out of infantile frustration.
Bullies such as this Obamanoid clown are the reason we fight so hard for the right of everyone in America to be able to lawfully carry firearms for self-defense purposes.

Critical mass has now been reached
BATFE senior agent John Dodson is the first of probably many government employees to bravely come forward on a national news program and personally confirm the unbelievable story that writer/blogger David Codrea and blogger Mike Vanderboegh first broke last December 28 (full disclosure: we have worked in the past with both men on gun rights and police-abuse issues) - that the original jack-booted thug of an agency that is the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (which regularly harasses and even prosecutes gun dealers and citizens over such things as minor paperwork errors) purposely allowed thousands of illegally straw-purchased firearms to cross the border into Mexico (without bothering to let the Mexicans themselves know about it), apparently in some kind of misguided scheme to pad the stats of U.S.-sold guns found in that country and thus make a stronger case for imposing further restrictions on the law-abiding public's ability to purchase and own such weapons:
"'I'm boots on the ground in Phoenix, telling you we've been doing it every day since I've been here,' [Dodson] said. 'Here I am. Tell me I didn't do the things that I did. Tell me you didn't order me to do the things I did. Tell me it didn't happen. Now you have a name on it. You have a face to put with it. Here I am. Someone now, tell me it didn't happen.'"
Two of the smuggled firearms subsequently turned up at the recent murder scene of Arizona U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, and one of those was allegedly the actual murder weapon used to kill him.
The entire story is quite involved, so go and read the entire timeline that was handily put together by Codrea for yourself and see if you don't get sick to your stomach as well.
Several U.S. Congressmen and Senators are now apparently preparing to launch investigations into that agency's egregiously negligent (and most likely criminal) conduct, and hopefully will come to the same conclusion that many others have drawn - that the BATFE is a rogue organization with zero control and accountability that directly caused the death of a hardworking border agent, and therefore it should immediately be shuttered and the top managers there who knew about this scheme indicted as accessories to homicide.
Codrea and Vanderboegh should also be joint Pulitzer nominees for their unrelenting efforts at exposing and chronicling this story, as far as we're concerned.

Child rearing, "professional"-style
Two stories containing very similar (and disturbing) circumstances, featuring a pair of the highly-trained and responsible people that organizations such as the Brady Campaign and the Violence Policy Center continue to insist with straight faces are the only ones "professional" enough to carry firearms and other self-defense weapons in public:
1. Escambia County, Florida Sheriff's Deputy Mildred Goodwin has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with cruelty toward a child for allegedly beating her own son with a department-issued collapsible baton:
"'Our investigation revealed that Goodwin's chosen discipline method was outside normal standards and met the statutory requirements for child abuse,' Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Chris Welborn said in a news release."
2. Orleans Parish, Louisiana Sheriff's Deputy Cotina Holmes has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with aggravated assault for allegedly "boarding a school bus and brandishing a gun at her 16-year-old son":
"Police spokeswoman Shereese Harper said the deputy was in uniform when she boarded the bus Thursday morning. When she got off the bus, the driver called police, Harper said Saturday."
If these two were willing to mistreat their own children in such a reckless and inappropriate manner, what was their behavior towards total strangers on the street?

It's all Monopoly money at this point
"President Obama's budget released on Monday proposes to spend $3.73 trillion for 2012. He can't say Bush made him do that. That proposed spending is an undeniable fact that reveals who he is, which he successfully hid from 53% of voters in 2008.
Campaigning in 2008 he promised voters that his plan involved a "net spending cut." That net spending cut translated into $836 billion in increased spending this year from 2008, according to President Obama's own budget documents. That is a federal spending increase of nearly 30% since 2008. Either President Obama does not know what "net spending cut" means in English, or he bamboozled a lot of people in 2008." (all emphases ours)
Dear Leader made a vow he had no intention of keeping? Bestill our hearts!
This news is so blatantly bad even reliable Obama lickspittle Andrew Sullivan has jumped the S.S. Hope and Change:
"To all those under 30 who worked so hard to get this man elected, know this: he just screwed you over. He thinks you're fools."
Future historians will no doubt pinpoint the tipping point for the inevitable economic collapse of the United States as occurring during the current administration, and properly lay the blame at the feet of the man who in his (hopefully) one term will have increased our national debt more than all of his 43 predecessors combined, despite their having to deal with such minor inconveniences as World Wars, Great Depressions, terrorist attacks and other global crises.
Thanks, Mr. President!

More dispatches from the madhouse across the pond
A couple of quickies from the criminal-coddling Nanny-state paradise that used to be "Great" Britain:
1. Police in Kent and Surrey, England, have strongly advised homeowners in that region to remove the wire mesh that most have placed over their shed windows in response to a recent increase in garden thefts there.
The cops have informed the incredulous residents that such measures are "dangerous" to thieves and that they could be successfully sued if the miscreants somehow injure themselves whilst climbing through such protected openings.
"Last month Samantha Cullum, a mother-of-three, of Brasted, near Sevenoaks in Kent, had her whole shed stolen when thieves lifted it on to a lorry." (emphasis ours)
Boy, a little mesh really made a huge difference there, didn't it?
"Dave Bishop, of Tatsfield, said: 'The law is so stupid, and you never know what decision judges are going to make.'"
The solution's quite obvious, Mr. Bishop - simply vote out the idiot lawmakers who insist on continually favoring the "rights" of criminals at your expense.
2. 17-year-old star athlete and fashion model Samantha Sadler of Halton, England was severely injured last June when a teenage "yob" for no reason at all threw a brick through the rear window of the car in which she was riding.
Sadler suffered a fractured skull, broken eye socket and broken nose, and still suffers to this day from double vision. Her dual careers in athletics and modeling are in serious danger of being ended forever due to her lingering injuries.
The feral youth in question, "who cannot be named for legal reasons" (naturally)? He was allowed to plead guilty to assault and was fined a mere 200 pounds ($321) and placed on probation for a year.
"A spokesman for the Families Against Crime campaign group said: ‘This is a shocking sentence. So often these cases end up in a plea bargain to save time and money at the expense of a proper punishment and justice for the victim. The system needs to be changed root and branch and this is a prime example why.'"
Just as in the first case, the solution is exceedingly simple - the law-abiding subjects over there need to vote out the politicians and judges who enable such outrageous miscarriages of justice which serve to embolden the criminal element, because the lawbreakers there know they won't face any serious consequences for their harmful actions.
We'll see if the law-abiding residents of that asylum ever wake up and rescue their nation from this kind of institutionalized madness.
